"Which scissors do you recommend?"

a Tool guide to the wonderful world of scissors!

There are so many different crafts out there, from sewing and quilting, weaving and macrame, to embroidery, cross stitch, knitting, and crochet. When it comes to scissors, snips, and other cutting tools we know it can be hard to figure out which one(s) is best for you. It’s no wonder we’re always asked which ones we recommend for sewing, weaving, quilting, and more!

While your personal preference for how a scissor feels in your hand is a major factor we always recommend be taken into consideration, we want to share with you our tool recommendations for a variety of different crafts.

Things to Consider

For all of our main scissor lines we carry 5 sizes: 8”, 9”, 10”, 11”, and 12”. When we mention in this list that we would recommend any size scissor for your craft, here are a couple of points to consider that can help you choose:

  1. The smaller the scissor, the more leverage you have when cutting with it.
  2. As our scissors size up, so does the handle. If you prefer more handle space, you’ll need to size up.
  3. If you experience any pain in your hand or wrist when using scissors we recommend choosing the smallest size available.
